The People’s Key came out a year ago…
That thought is just so weird for me. So much has changed in that short space of time.
I like to reflect on my life in a series of anniversaries, much like birthdays but at different landmarks in my life.
It’s just awfully weird thinking that, when that record came out, I was pretty much a nobody and people thought I was just this guy who was going to fuck up with the whole music thing and thought of me as talentless and wouldn’t let me play shows when I asked. It’s just ironic that now i’m getting booked for gigs mostly without consent.
Also, it’s weird that i’ve seen Bright Eyes live alongside so many absolutely amazing bands including Bon Iver, Laura Marling and Manchester Orchestra and the fact that i’ve made some friends of my own through music.
And the writing thing just encourages me as i’ve started to write a bit more after my little dry spell last month for local publications.
Happy birthday Conor. At 32, you are still twice as young as me.
